The Locomotive is die-cast and not running so it will need service. The cars are all tin and good condition (the paint on the caboose is poor). You get the #1679 Baby Ruth Boxcar, the #1680 Sunoco Tank Car and the #1682 Caboose. I do not give warranties on engines whether I tested them or not. His collection was HUGE, 100s of rolling stock.
