Antique Folk Art Hand Made Pennsylvania Train Locomotive Coal Car Cow Car Ore

  

This is a wonderful piece of Folk Art in the form of a hand made train. It was probably made for someone as a toy or possible just a model, just the kind of make do folk art that is one of a kind and amazing.

The train consists of a Locomotive, coal car, cow car and an ore car. Painted on the side of the ore car is "Pennsylvannia" note spelling. The ore car is missing one set of wheels, see photo.

There are some age issues, a little rust and wear and a break in the door of the cow car. The theme is defiantly of the Pennsylvania rail road, ore car, cow car etc. And to estimate an age is difficult but would put it somewhere around the early 1900's maybe late 1800's.

The train is all solid and has some weight to it, the detail in tin accouterments is wonderful even down to the tin hatch on the boiler of the locomotive. We found the train in the mountains of Virginia.

The locomotive is 24" long x 8 1/2" wide x 9 1/2" tall The coal car is 10 1/2" long x 5 1/2" wide x 7" tall The cow car is 19" long x 6 3/4" wide x 9" tall The ore car is 16" long x 6 3/8" wide x x 8 1/4" tall. So the train overall is 69 long.
